New Despicable Me Spin-off Movie – The Minions

When is the new Minions movie out?

Ready to hit cinemas July 2015 ‘The Minions’ is a prequel movie to the Despicable Me movie franchise, explaining how the Minions came to be. It was first set to be December 2014 so let’s hope there are no more delays!

This prequel may have been in the pipeline for some time and maybe, as fans, we should have guessed that a movie about the Minions would come to be. The reason we should have guessed? Well, there was a teaser campaign at the end of the credits on Despicable Me 2. The teaser was a short clip of minions having to audition for their role.
This new Minions movie is directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin. The man who directed the other two, Brian Lynch, will do the screenplay in this movie. Lynch also wrote the movie. It is to be a 3-D computer-animated production done by Illumination Entertainment for Universal Pictures.

The storyline (possible small spoilers – no plot twists though):

From what we have heard and researched this movie is going to be a prequel to Despicable Me. It is going to tell the story of the minions starting from the very beginning – them evolving from a single yellow cell.

We follow the minions through history, finding out that they have been that cute and funny the whole time! We also find out that Gru was not the first evil villain that the minions worked for. You will watch the minions working for all their past masters, a T-Rex, Ghenghis Khan and Dracula and find out when the minions go through a time without a master they actually get a little depressed! It takes two brave minions to go out and find a new evil master. The new masters are believed to be Scarlet Overkill (the first female evil villain of the series) and her husband Herb Overkill.

I’m sure there will be more information nearer the time. Roll on Summer 2015!
